Track days after coronavirus lockdown

At the time of writing we’re starting to see certain leisure activities and sports trying to resume across Europe.

Here in the UK track days have just resumed, about a month behind our continental cousins, and there are frantic planning efforts at all motorsport circuits to try and salvage various race series, from Formula One all the way across to Club level.

We’re starting to gain an understanding of how things will work ‘on event’, from pre event registration to electronic sign on and driver briefings and, it all looks fairly robust.

One thing is for sure though, in the early days of the recovery period it will not be quite as sociable, with many venues limiting spectators and participants, and understandably placing restrictions on who can share cars etc. Participants will have to be very careful about passenger laps and unless you’re on a Destination Nürburgring track day, you will find getting professional instruction very difficult due to social distancing restrictions. Instruction on a DN trackday is done car to car, with you following a lead instructor who has radio contact with you at all times during the lap. Remarkably effective, and totally safe for both you and the instructor.

The main thing that is becoming clear, is there is no let up in appetite.

Sport driving enthusiasts from all over Europe continue to seek out opportunities to enjoy themselves in their favourite cars on the Nordschleife and other circuits, and DN Events will continue to satisfy that demand.

So, wherever in the world you are – we hope you and your loved ones are safe and well, and we really hope to see you trackside soon!
