The Pinderwagen Latest

If you’re interested in the Nürburgring you’ll more than likely notice certain faces, cars or bikes for being ‘always there’.

Sometimes this is because they live in the Eifel, sometimes because they, like most of us, are determined to learn the Nordschleife and make as many trips/laps as they can. Sometimes, like with the Pinderwagen, it just seems like the car is there all the time because of internet familiarity.

The Pinderwagen is a Volkswagen Mk2 Golf 1.6 Driver. Or more accurately, it used to be a VW Mk2 Driver. Over the years Nigel has owned the car, his natural curiosity and mechanical ability has led him down a rabbit hole of development that has seen the Golf morph from a modest 72bhp 1.6 shopping  to a fire breathing 440bhp track monster sporting an aero package more akin to an F1 car than not.

Nigel has been visiting the Nürburgring for years now. Like most of us not fortunate enough to live there, he has been limited in the number of times a year he could visit, but boy – he’s made those times count, packing more laps in each trip than most of us could manage in a year! And with the ascent of the internet (remember kids, when we all first started visiting there was no internet!) he’s steadfastly blogged and reported on developments along the way.

Which is most probably why this car feels more familiar to you than it really should.

You can read all about the car’s journey at Nigel’s blog site – http://pinderwagen.com

And of course, Nigel loves to drive as many Destination Nürburgring track days as he can – so there’s a really good chance you can see the car up close for yourself.
